Funder
Public Safety Canada Red Flag Awareness Initiative
Provided Indigenous lens consulting and training support connected to the Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters’ Red Flag Laws public legal education project, funded through Public Safety Canada’s Red Flag Awareness Initiative.
This provincial training work focused on helping gender-based violence emergency shelter staff, service users, and community partners better understand Red Flag laws, firearm-related harm, emergency prohibition orders, emergency limitations on access orders, safety planning, and practical frontline response.
Lisa’s role supported the development and delivery of culturally responsive education by connecting legal information to the lived realities of Indigenous women, families, communities, and service providers. The work helped bridge policy, public legal education, gender-based violence prevention, firearm risk, anti-Indigenous racism, trauma-informed practice, and practical safety planning.
Areas of focus included:
Red Flag Laws education and public legal information;
gender-based violence and intimate partner violence;
firearm-related risk and safety concerns;
emergency prohibition orders and emergency limitations on access orders;
safety planning and frontline response;
culturally responsive practice with Indigenous women, families, and communities;
anti-Indigenous racism in service systems;
connecting legal tools to real-world crisis and safety concerns.
This project reflects Lisa Currier Consulting’s work in helping organizations translate complex systems, laws, and policies into practical training that frontline workers can understand, apply, and carry into their work.
